Meou Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 September 2026

App and service: Meou, including the Meou Android application and the Meou website at trymeou.app.

Privacy contact: For general privacy questions, use the developer contact method shown on Meou's Google Play listing. For account and data deletion, use Delete Meou Account.

This policy describes current mobile-app and website behavior separately where they differ. Meou does not sell personal data or use it for advertising or ad personalization.

1. What Meou is

Meou is a virtual companion and gentle productivity app. It can save a companion profile, care and routine activity, focus or study progress, and user-provided conversations or reflections so features can continue across sessions. Some features are optional and require a permission or sign-in choice.

Meou is not medical, mental-health, emergency, financial, legal, or educational-professional advice. AI-generated companion responses may be incomplete, incorrect, or unsuitable for a particular situation.

2. Information Meou handles

Account and authentication

Owner, companion, and activity data

Depending on features used, Meou handles your chosen owner name, goals or context, pet name, pet species or type, selected pet identity or artwork, companion state, care actions, routines, routine times, timezone, focus/study sessions, totals, reflections, conversations, Teach messages, learned words or memories, behavioral summaries, and related event timestamps.

Daily Pages and local media in the current Android release

The current Android build includes Daily Pages that can store typed entries, mood and theme selections, revisions, selected photos, and user-recorded audio. In the current Android implementation, Daily Pages records and media are stored in app preferences and the app-support directory; this local Daily Pages path does not use Supabase or upload those files to Meou servers.

Deleting an individual Daily Page removes its local page record and associated local media through page controls. Uninstalling the app normally removes app-private local files according to Android behavior. Do not use Daily Pages as a secure vault for highly sensitive material.

Voice and speech recognition

Teach voice input uses microphone access only after you start an owner-initiated voice interaction. Meou receives speech-recognition results as editable transcript text. The device operating system or speech-recognition provider may process microphone audio or transcripts under its own privacy terms. Meou does not intentionally keep a raw microphone recording for Teach voice input.

Daily Pages voice notes are different: when you record one, the current Android build creates a local audio file and may also receive a speech transcript. The local audio file remains in app-private storage until you remove the page/media or the app's local data is removed.

Photos and device media

If you use a Daily Pages photo feature, you may choose images from your device or capture a photo where the operating system and device support that action. The current Android Daily Pages implementation keeps selected media locally and does not intentionally upload those files to Meou servers.

Notifications, push tokens, and alarms

Daily Reminder is opt-in. If you enable it, Meou may receive and store an FCM registration token, enabled/disabled state, device timezone, and timestamps used to avoid duplicate or unnecessary reminders. Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers the notification. Disabling the reminder stops use of the row for enabled delivery; the token record may remain disabled until account deletion or service cleanup.

Wake alarms and related tone or schedule settings are scheduled locally through the operating system. Meou may request notification, exact-alarm, vibration, and boot-restart permissions. Denying or revoking permissions can prevent or change reminder behavior. No reminder is guaranteed on every device or operating-system configuration.

Motion and technical data

The Walk feature may read accelerometer motion while active to support movement interaction. The current design does not intentionally upload raw accelerometer readings.

Firebase Crashlytics may receive crash reports, error information, stack traces, app version, operating-system and device information, and installation or diagnostic identifiers when crash reporting is initialized. Crashlytics processes this information under Google's service terms and retention practices.

Website data

The Meou website may store selected pet, routine, study-room, authentication-session, and interface state in browser storage. Website features may use Supabase authentication, database, Edge Functions, Storage, Realtime, browser speech services, and web-push services. If you enable web reminders, the website may process a browser push endpoint, timezone, enabled state, and related timestamps.

Web hosting, CDN, security, and any enabled measurement service may process ordinary technical request information such as IP address, browser, device, approximate timing, and error information. Meou does not use this information for targeted advertising. The current Android build does not include a dedicated advertising or analytics SDK.

3. Information Meou does not intentionally request for core features

Meou does not intentionally request location, contacts, SMS, call logs, or advertising identifiers for its core features. Meou does not intentionally collect or process health, financial, payment-card, or government-ID information. If you voluntarily type sensitive information into a conversation, reflection, or Daily Page, that information becomes user-provided content and may be handled as described in this policy.

Meou does not process payments inside the app. If Google Play charges for a paid app distribution, Google processes the transaction under Google's terms; Meou does not receive your payment-card details.

4. Why Meou uses information

5. Service providers and sharing

Meou shares or makes data available only as needed to operate requested features, protect the service, or comply with law. Meou does not sell personal data.

Provider or recipientRolePotential information
SupabaseAuthentication, database, Edge Functions, Storage, Realtime, and server-side access controls.Account identifiers, profile, companion state, activity, conversations, routine/focus data, push metadata, and requested server content.
GoogleGoogle sign-in and, where applicable, Google Play distribution and billing.Identity information returned by Google sign-in. Google Play purchase information remains under Google's systems and terms.
FirebaseCloud Messaging reminders and Crashlytics diagnostics.Push token and delivery metadata when reminders are enabled; crash, device, app-version, and diagnostic information when Crashlytics is initialized.
Device speech providerSpeech recognition selected by the operating system or speech-to-text library.Microphone audio and/or speech-recognition text as required by the device speech service. Its retention and training practices are governed by that provider.
AI model serviceWhen AI chat, Teach, or reflection is enabled, a server-side function may use an LLM provider through OpenRouter or another configured service. The minimum prompt, conversation, companion context, or user content needed to produce the requested response. Provider retention and model-training behavior can vary.
Hosting, CDN, security, and infrastructure providersServe the website, protect requests, and maintain availability.Technical request information, browser/device metadata, and content needed to deliver the requested page or function.

Service providers may process information in countries different from your own. Their own privacy notices, contracts, and legally required disclosures also apply. Meou does not promise that deletion from an external provider, crash-reporting system, security log, or backup occurs at the same instant as deletion from Meou's active account database.

6. AI-generated companion content

Some Meou features generate replies using automated language models. Meou may send the minimum relevant text and companion context needed for the requested response. Generated content is not a statement of fact, diagnosis, treatment, professional advice, or a promise about your life or future. Do not use Meou for emergencies or decisions requiring professional judgment.

Do not submit passwords, payment credentials, government identifiers, or another person's private information to AI features. Meou applies application-level safety handling, but no automated system can guarantee that every response is harmless or accurate. If the app presents a reporting or safety control, use it to report a harmful response.

7. Storage, security, and access control

Network traffic between the app, website, and configured backend services is intended to use HTTPS/TLS. User-owned server records are protected by account-scoped authorization controls. Some static or public website content is intentionally publicly readable. Server credentials and privileged deletion credentials are kept on server-side infrastructure, not in the client application.

Local app data is protected by the operating system's app-private storage and browser storage controls. No security measure is perfect. Keep passwords, sign-in links, and devices secure, and notify the privacy contact if you suspect unauthorized access.

8. Retention

9. Account and data deletion

Because Meou offers account creation and sign-in, it provides deletion paths inside and outside the app.

Inside the Android app

Open Settings → Delete Account, review the warning, and confirm. The authenticated request identifies the requesting account from its own session; it does not accept a client-supplied account ID. On success, the server deletes the account and account-owned database records, and the app clears local preferences, account caches, and the local session.

Outside the app

Use Delete Meou Account. You must authenticate and explicitly confirm deletion. This web route exists so you can start deletion without reinstalling the app. If you cannot complete the flow, use the developer contact method shown on Meou's Google Play listing.

Limits and local data

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. It does not automatically remove information that you separately submitted to an external provider, information retained in legally required or security records, or local Daily Pages media that is not account-linked. Delete local Daily Pages entries/media separately or remove the app's local data.

10. Your choices

Meou does not promise a self-service export feature unless one is expressly provided in the current app or website.

11. Children

Meou is not directed to children and is not designed as a child-directed service. Do not use Meou or submit a child's information unless you are legally permitted to do so. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact the developer using the Google Play contact method and request review and deletion.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Meou's features, providers, legal obligations, or data practices change. We will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or website where appropriate. The current version of this page is the governing public privacy notice for Meou.
